A component of Spokane Mental Health’s Crisis Response Services. Trained and professionally supervised volunteers and staff provide telephone crisis intervention, information, assistance, referral, supportive listening and link callers to professional clinicians as needed. Providing immediate assistance to people in emotional crisis, First Call for Help provides services in a confidential and caring manner. Responds to a variety of calls concerning:

  • Relationship problems
  • Domestic violence
  • Loneliness
  • Substance abuse
  • Resources for elder relatives
  • Thoughts of suicide
  • Information on emergency shelter, food or transportation
  • Deaf and hard of hearing resources
  • Grief
  • Pregnancy

Provides access to services and resources at the national, state and local levels to support recovery, rehabilitation and community reintegration. Find information on a variety of topics including benefits & compensation, education & training, employment, family & caregiver support, health, homeless assistance, housing, transportation & travel and other services & resources. The NRD is a partnership among the Departments of Defense, Labor and Veterans Affairs

National Caregiver Support Line 
The Veterans Affairs National Caregiver Support Line serves as a primary resource/referral center for caregivers, veterans and others seeking information to help our nation’s veterans. Calls are answered by VA employees who are licensed clinical social workers. Call 1-855-260-3274
